DUNNVILLE—On March 9, 2022 at 5:57 p.m., Haldimand OPP received a complaint from the Dunnville Library that an act of mischief had just occurred. According to the person reporting the mischief, a male youth had discharged a fire extinguisher in the adult fiction section of the library and then fled on foot in an unknown direction.
There was significant damage done to some books, an industrial photo copier, and the white powdery substance had landed all over the walls and floors in that area.
The male suspect was described as 14-15 years old, dark hair down to his shoulders in a blunt cut, wearing dark baggy clothing and possibly carrying a backpack. This male was identified as having discharged another fire extinguisher in the same library on March 3, 2022. The library will be providing video surveillance photos to police, and this may confirm the identity of the individual responsible for the damage.
