CALEDONIA—The Caledonia and Region Chamber of Commerce (CRCC) marks the post-COVID return of the Business Achievement Awards (BAA) on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Caledonia Lions Hall.
Nominations for these awards were open to the public and juried by a committee. With over 100 nominations, the 2022 return of the awards will showcase over 50 nominees. Winners will be announced at the awards dinner by world-class master of ceremonies, Warren Burger!
Considered the hallmark event of the Caledonia business community, the 2022 BAAs have a new category for non-brick-and-mortar businesses to promote entrepreneurs without a physical storefront, and have proudly renamed the banner Citizen of the Year Award to the Barbara Martindale Citizen of the Year Award. This change was made to honour the former CRCC Executive Director and is given to the citizen who has significantly impacted the Caledonia area.
In addition to these two, six other awards will be handed out in the following categories: Business of the Year, New Business (awarded to a business opened since 2019), Outstanding Organization, Young Leader (Caledonia area resident under the age of 35), Best Place to Work (another new award), and the Carol Ritchie Scotch Thistle award for tourism.
Caledonia Chamber Executive Director Jessica Lymburner says, “I had no idea what to expect when we first started planning the awards; it was the best kind of overwhelming to keep up with the nominations as they came in.
“Reading the comments on the submissions and learning about why our community was so passionate about each business, person, or organization was truly an honour. I’m excited to share that feedback with dinner attendees at the end of the month.”
Tickets to the event are $55 each or a table of eight for $400 and can be purchased online at caledonia-chamber.com until March 17.
