JARVIS—Alzheimer Society of Brant, Haldimand Norfolk, Hamilton Halton (ASBHNHH) is hosting the annual IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Lions Park in Jarvis.
“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and I’m looking forward to seeing community members from both Haldimand and Norfolk come together in Jarvis to show their support for people living with dementia in our community. I am grateful to the numerous participants who have decided to support our local Alzheimer Society,” says Alison MacKenzie, Community Development Specialist at ASBHNHH.
Every year the number of people living with dementia rises. The Landmark Study, released last fall, expects that the number of people living with dementia in Ontario will more than triple in the next 30 years to more than 750,000 individuals. The walk raises critical funds that allow the Alzheimer Society to offer dementia education, counselling services, and wellness activities to people living with dementia and care partners across Haldimand and Norfolk counties.
Kevin Reid, Regional Vice-President for IG Wealth Management, says, “I take the responsibility of leading by example very seriously in all that I do. This is why I am so pleased and honoured to work with a firm that continues to focus on raising awareness for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease…. With the statistics being what they are, I personally am committed to doing my very best to make a positive impact on the awareness front. I have been and am personally impacted by this disease which drives me to walk as often as I can. I walk for my mother and for all who are suffering, in addition to those caregivers who work so hard to support loved ones. Please join me on May 27 for the #IGWalkForAlz.”
