“I’m happy!” That is what Marina Fleming said to me during our conversation that started with recipes and wound around to family, friends, and life in general. Her family and friends, in particular, are extremely important to her and this was reinforced by the fact that the recipes shared are favourites of those closest to her.
Marina grew up in Hamilton. Her parents moved the family to a farm near Fisherville when she was in Grade 8, and she has lived in Haldimand ever since. Marina enjoyed a 20-year career as a medical secretary for doctors in private practice and another 22 years working at McMaster University Student Wellness, retiring in 2020. Marina and her husband, Ken Fleming, reside in Cayuga. They married in 2010 and their blended family now consists of four children and seven grandchildren. Marina loves cheering for her grandsons at their ball games. She now works part time at Hands on Health. She also enjoys her time volunteering with the Caledonia Fair Board and the Strong Start reading program at an elementary school.
