Having recently downsized their home, Anne Braham and her husband Jim are enjoying this phase of their lives. It’s time to relax, enjoy their cottage at the lake, and spend quality time with their family and friends. Anne is a life-long Haldimand resident, having grown up in Cayuga as Anne Doyle. There was a short time, just after they were married, that Anne and Jim lived in Hamilton. Caledonia eventually became their home where they raised three children.

Their family has since grown to include seven grandchildren. We both agreed that being a grandparent was one of life’s greatest gifts! Anne has been very active in the community throughout the years. Currently, she is a life member of the West Haldimand General Hospital Auxiliary, where she held a variety of executive positions. At one time she was working in the banking industry, but then found herself drawn to real estate, where she stayed for 27 years.
Anne had a lot of recipes to share, including an interesting one she mentioned as I was saying goodbye and stepping out of the door! That will be for another time. The fish recipe comes from her son-in-law Bryan. His family is of Polish descent, and this originated from a cultural recipe book. Anne said Bryan is a great cook and this is one of her favourite recipes of his. You can easily substitute pickerel for the walleye.
Anne’s cousin Maureen made this roast beef recipe for them on one of their visits. It was delicious and so she asked for the recipe.
The rocky road squares is a treat Anne makes for her grandchildren. She uses the gluten free Rice Krispies as some of the grands have dietary restrictions, but of course the regular Rice Krispies would work just as well. Enjoy!
