DUNNVILLE—A new club has been formed in Dunnville to promote a healthy lifestyle and to build community.
Anita Gombos-Hill, her husband Dan Hill, and their seven-year-old son Michael Hill are new residents in Dunnville, having moved to Dunnville from Thunder Bay in May 2019 for work.
“We noticed that Dunnville did not have a walking/running club,” said Anita. “Since we enjoy an active lifestyle, we decided to form a club and initiated a Facebook page to let people know about it.”
“The aim of the Dunnville Running/Walking Club is to encourage an active lifestyle and to build a community, which we highly appreciate in this town, and hope to build on.”
The Dunnville Running/Walking Club is free to join. Club members meet twice a week for group runs/walks on Wednesdays (7 p.m., approximately 5km) and Saturdays (9 a.m., approximately 5-10km) at Central Park. The club is open to runners and walkers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Distances vary based on members’ requests, experience, and interests.
Group runs/walks are a great way to meet new people, to talk about training, fitness, and upcoming races and events. The Facebook page provides a venue for interested people to meet for walks/runs and list events and races.
All are welcome to join them to better understand their motto: ‘fun, fitness, and community’.
