CALEDONIA—The Caledonia Corvairs fought through an overtime thriller Friday before dominating at home Saturday to extend their winning streak to four games.
On October 3, 2025 the Corvairs edged the Listowel Cyclones 4-3 in a hard-fought overtime road win. The game was fast and physical.
Alexander Davies opened the scoring late in the first, assisted by Tyler Clark. Listowel tied the game early in the second, but Ethan Quick put Caledonia back ahead at 12:10 with help from Ethan Osborne and Nathan Da Silva. The Cyclones capitalized on a power play to tie the game again before the end of the period.
Listowel briefly took the lead early in the third, also on the power play, but Osborne answered late with a clutch goal at 18:06, assisted by Micheal Derbidge and Joey Wassilyn, forcing overtime. It took just over four minutes of extra play for the Corvairs to seal the win, as defenceman Carson Littlejohn buried the game-winner off a pass from Derbidge.
Caledonia spent 34 minutes in the penalty box, but the penalty kill held firm for most of the night and Maverick Fletcher’s goaltending kept the Corvairs in the game through 52 shots on net.
On October 4 the Corvairs returned to the Haldimand County Caledonia Centre and defeated the Sarnia Legionnaires 4-1. Unlike the night before, Caledonia controlled the tempo from start to finish, outshooting Sarnia 55-29 and converting once on the power play.
Derbidge opened the scoring late in the first period on the man advantage, with assists from Littlejohn and Osborne. Osborne added to the lead early in the second while shorthanded, assisted by Littlejohn and Kane Styres.
In the third, Derbidge struck again at 6:38 to make it 3-0, with assists from Gage Butcher and Styres. Sarnia broke the shutout with a lone goal at 14:28, but Osborne responded minutes later with his second of the night, assisted by Derbidge and Jack Gallo.
Goaltender Anthony Paolini made 28 saves for the win, backstopping a disciplined defensive effort that allowed few second chances. Caledonia’s penalty kill was perfect through five Sarnia power plays, and the team kept composure even as the Legionnaires grew frustrated late in the game.
With the victories, the Corvairs improved to 5-2 on the season, scoring 26 goals while allowing 23. The team’s penalty kill continues to be a strength, sitting near 86%.
The Corvairs will look to keep their momentum going as they visit the Hamilton Kilty B’s on Thursday, October 9 at 7 p.m., before returning home to face the Welland Jr. Canadians on Saturday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m.
