CALEDONIA—Chloe Wilson has a deep-rooted love for her home town. She was named one of two Junior Citizens of the Year at Caledonia’s Business Achievement Awards earlier this year.
“The people within my community have been incredibly supportive with everything I have taken part in, and I would not have been able to receive this award if it wasn’t for the great sense of community that the town of Haldimand demonstrates and expresses,” says Wilson. “Receiving this award has made me realize how important being a part of a community is, and how it is important to appreciate and take part in activities to give back to the wonderful people in the community.”
Wilson has taken it upon herself to get involved in numerous important and charitable endeavours through McKinnon Park Secondary School. She is president of the Interact Club. This organization is involved in fundraisers such as Operation Christmas Child, focused on collecting gift donations for children in need, and Soles for Souls, dedicated to collecting old pairs of shoes that are turned into new pairs. They also host food drives around the holidays to donate to local food banks.
Wilson has also acted as the media representative for the Executive Students’ Council at McKinnon Park. In her role, she helped to organize and run events in her school community, such as Dinner Theatre and Grade Eight Night.
