CANFIELD—Filmmaker Graeme Bachiu of Windecker Road Films is thrilled to be debuting his docuseries ‘Canfield Roots’ on WNED PBS this Tuesday, February 1, 2022. The six-part docuseries has been available on Bell Fibe TV On Demand and Vimeo.com since Fall 2021, but will now reach a new audience of over 1.3 million viewers each week across southern Ontario and western New York on the popular PBS station.

Sharing the history of some of the Black families who lived and thrived in a small rural town, Canfield Roots follows present-day descendants in Canada and the US as they learn about their family history, share their early experiences, and fight to preserve the Street cemetery, now the focus of a restoration project. Located on private land, the cemetery is the final resting place of freedom seekers and the last remaining evidence that Black people lived in the area.

The six-part docuseries will air Tuesdays at 7:30pm from February 1 to March 8 as part of WNED PBS’s Black History Month programming.

To find the full viewing schedule, check your local listings or visit wned.org/television/schedules. Those interested in renting or purchasing a DVD or digital download can visit windeckerroadfilms.com.

“I hope everyone gets as much out of watching Canfield Roots, as we did filming it,” said Bachiu. “This project was created during the pandemic, and we were heavily affected by COVID-19, so I’m especially happy to be sharing it with audiences now.”
