HAGERSVILLE—The Hagersville Lions Club is hosting a new round of Catch the Ace, with draws taking place every Thursday at the Hagersville Legion. The first draw took place May 26, 2022. “We sold 152 tickets and had many people participating who remembered round one, as well as some who bought tickets for the first time,” explained Lion Dan Matten (right). The draw is streamed live on the Lions’ Facebook page, and Wayne Awde (left) took home the first week’s prize. Matten said, “After he bought the ticket he went out for supper and returned our call just in time to catch us at the Legion. As he lives very close to the Legion he came right over and we presented him with the cheque for $204. He was very surprised and overwhelmed by that win.” Ticket sales start at 4:30 p.m. and are open until 7:50 p.m., just before the draw at 8 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Hagersville Food Bank and West Haldimand General Hospital.
