The following were discussed at Council in Committee on April 16, 2019. Any decisions were expected to be ratified at Council on April 23.
Update on new administrative building
Haldimand Council heard the construction of the new administrative building is on budget and schedule, with an estimated completion date of fall 2019. Ninety-nine per cent of the structural steel is complete with the installation of electrical equipment rough-ins and HVAC equipment underway.
Staff reported that nothing out of the ordinary in terms of contingency issues have occurred to date.
Jarvis Master Plan meeting held
A public information session was held on April 10 to discuss the Jarvis Master Plan. The meeting was attended by 14 members of the public who expressed concerns about the construction impacts on Talbot Street, as well as increased odour for the Townsend Lagoons as a result of additional flow. A suggestion to widen Highway 3 to make cycling safer was also received.
An updated Jarvis Master Plan will include an increase in wastewater servicing capacity, which is unable to support any new developments in the area. The next steps are to meet with First Nations for consultation and to complete and submit a scheduled project to the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks.
