PORT MAITLAND—Haldimand County Council has voted unanimously to reject a proposal from LJM Developments Inc. to build a seasonal cottage community on ground defined as prime agricultural lands within Haldi-mand County’s Official Plan.
The vote came on the heels of a recommendation by County staff to refuse the proposal for the land located at 63 Pyle Road on the north shore of Lake Erie between Port Maitland and Lowbanks.
The proposal from LJM asked the County to rezone the lands from Agricultural and Hazard Land to Seasonal Residential.
LJM was also asking for a site-specific designation in order to build a seasonal community consisting of 173 seasonal cottages and amenities, including a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a community center.
