HALDIMAND—After a series of service outages, Haldimand County has determined Rogers can no longer provide long-term internet solutions for the municipality.
Council unanimously agreed to enter into a five-year agreement with local company Metro Loop.
Metro Loop was able to provide County staff with a solution for the necessary wide area network (WAN), which will include the Kohler Yard and the Selkirk Library that have experienced a number of stoppages in service under Rogers.
Providing the entire municipality with viable high-speed internet is a goal of Council. Mayor Ken Hewitt said staff have been working to bring the service to all residents, especially those in rural areas.
“I’ve spoken about this a number of times and it remains a goal of Council to find the best plan to bring internet to all communities in the county,” said Hewitt.
