DUNNVILLE—At the end of their two-day Home, Garden & Craft Show on Saturday, April 15, 2023 the Dunnville Lions Club presented a $1,500 donation to the Salvation Army in support of their programs so that “they can buy more than what we can give them,” said Joan Allen of the Lions Club. She added how, in addition to offering food, the Salvation Army provides other supports to clients such as “extra money for rent and that sort of thing.” The Lions also delivered 907lbs. of food donated to their “Fill The Shed Food Drive” over the weekend. Above from left is Bev MacLean, Joan Allen, Joy Quail (Community Development Coordinator for the Salvation Army), Reg Wilson, Dennis McDonald, Terri Bulman, Ted Tomlin (President of the Lions Club), and Frank Powers with Trout. Nine-month-old golden retriever Trout is being socialized prior to her assessment by the Lions Foundation. If chosen to be a service dog, she will go further with professional trainers. While wearing a green jacket, these dogs are being socialized and public interaction is welcomed; with the red jackets, it is not. The Lions thank the Northshore Shed Company, who according to Allen were “extremely generous” for providing the shed that was used to collect the food donations from attendees.
