Dunnville Rotary Club cleans up Myrnham Beach

DUNNVILLE—On Saturday, April 23, 2022 the Dunnville Rotary Club participated in the cleanup at Myrnham Beach at the James N Allan Park. Under the auspices of Parks Ontario, a big cleanup was completed by the club members. “We had all kinds of help from three-year-olds, to grandkids, couples, and seniors,” said President Lynn Spencer. “We collected over 40 large bags of debris from the beach and wooded area behind.” Conservatively, over 1,000 pounds was collected during the cleanup by 41 volunteers. After two hours of cleaning up, the club gave out prizes to the family who collected the most garbage, to the most unusual thing found (a pylon and computer circuit board), and to the grossest thing found (dirty diapers). Everyone enjoyed pizza and pop together after. “We had great support from Ryan Adam, Assistant Superintendant of Rock Point Provincial Park,” Lynn added. “It is certainly an event we would do again. And it helps our environment.” The family who collected the most collected 19 of the 44 bags of garbage!
