FISHERVILLE—For the second year in a row, Fisherville Hotel and Tavern will be hosting a Soup-A-Bowl fundraiser this Friday, February 5, 2021.
Fisherville Tavern participated in the original Soup-A-Bowl event run by Haldimand Motors for 10 years. When Haldimand Motors announced they would not be hosting such an event last year, Fisherville Tavern took up the torch and raised $600 cash and several boxes of non-perishables for the Cayuga Food Bank. This year proceeds will go towards the Fisherville Lions Club.
Those interested in supporting the cause can call the restaurant to place an order for pick up, while quanities last. Pre-orders for soup can also be made on their website at thetav.ca/orders, or donations can be made to the Fisherville Lions at thetav.ca/donations.
“We will be selling one litre of soup for $10. All proceeds to go to Lions,” explained co-owner Janna Overend. “The soup this year will be the same as last year’s – Mexican Corn Chowder made with Snyder’s Sweet corn.”
Lion Jim Rohrbach is thankful for the restaurant’s support, along with support seen from the community as a whole.
“With the loss of our Variety Show last year, and the loss of our Variety Show and Stag Night this year, we are at a terrible disadvantage,” he explained. “We still continue to receive requests for assistance and have created the Pandemic Response Team to assist those who are in need due to COVID. We are still there for those who need help and we thank the community for their continued support.”
