CALEDONIA—Four Caledonia Thunder hockey teams enjoyed not only a successful season but a championship win.
The U18 Team 1 defeated Caledonia Team 2 in regulation 4-3. The U15 Team 1 came out on top after a very close game against Caledonia Team 2, winning 4-3 in overtime. The U11 Team 3 had an exciting match against Dunnville, scoring the game winning goal with just 18 seconds left in regulation to win 2-1. The U13 Team 1 had a nailbiter against Caledonia Team 3; tied 1-1 these teams forced two overtimes before Team 1 finally got the upper hand.
Coach Mike Grenville said, “Our team worked hard all year. They were a very coachable group…. We had an amazing group of coaches, manager, parents, and families who were positive and supportive all year long. The kids played the game with the respect it deserves….. I asked them to push themselves, to play harder, to play as a team. Every kid played an integral part of the team, with everyone playing equal ice time. You can see the love of the game in the kids’ eyes.”
It’s likely his comments would be echoed amongst other participants in local minor hockey across the county. Congratulations to all players for a season well played!
