DUNNVILLE—The annual Friends of the Dunnville Public Library is in full swing! The sale began on July 2, 2024 and runs until August 31. The sale is no small feat, taking six weeks to set up. Volunteer Trudy Merigold said, “It’s a huge fundraiser for us and that money stays in Dunnville, at this library!” President Anne Gallant (shown above pricing books for the sale) added, “The money is used for whatever the library needs that is not funded, is not in the budget. They give us wish lists all the time and we decide as a group whether we will pay for it or not.… We gave $40,000 toward the renovation of the library. The OBIE (upstairs in the children’s department) was a big thing; it was about $9,000.”

OBIE is a projector that interacts with the carpet below to educate and entertain young children. In addition to the physical building, the group sponsors many programs for children as well, such as the Lego and ukuele programs. The Friends sold approximately 30,000 books last year and the sale is already going very well this year. Visit the library at 317 Chestnut St., Dunnville or visit the Friends of the Dunnville Library Facebook page for details.
