Hawks losing streak continues

HAGERSVILLE—Your Hagersville Hawks are now 0-7 on the year with back-to-back losses against Glanbrook last week.

On Wednesday, October 1, 2025 the Hawks travelled to Glanbrook and were slammed by the Rangers 10-3. The Rangers came out flying, getting five unanswered goals in the first.

The start of the second period saw Glanbrook continue scoring, with the Rangers getting a shorthanded goal to start the period off just 49 seconds into the frame. Hagersville finally got on the scoreboard at the 3:46 mark of the period with Dreydon Cruz General scoring his first of the year on the powerplay with Cole Jennings and Nate Veldstra getting the assists. At the 6:04 mark, Xavier Fazzari scored his second goal of the year unassisted.

Then Glanbrook turned on the power again, scoring four more goals before the end of the period, including one more shorthanded and one powerplay goal. The teams went to the dressing rooms after two periods with Glanbrook at 10, Hawks 2.

The third period saw just one goal as Zach Ebert scored his second of the season, assisted by Fazzari and Veldstra. The final score was 10-3 Rangers; Glanbrook outshot the Hawks 62-25.

Saturday, October 4, the Rangers came to the Hawks’ nest. It was a better played game of hockey than the Wednesday game was.

The Rangers got the only goal of the first period on the powerplay at the 14:48 mark.

In the second period, Hawk Luke Leblanc scored with the assist going to Averee Sault, tying the game at one a piece. Glanbrook pulled ahead again at the 17:13 mark of the period to send the boys to the dressing rooms with Glanbrook at 2, Hawks 1.

Early in the third period, the Hawks were on a five-on-three powerplay for over two minutes, but just couldn’t find an opening to put the puck in the net. Glanbrook found the mesh twice more before the game was concluded, making the final 4-1 Rangers.

The Hawks’ next game is Friday, October 10 in Grimsby against the Peach Kings, then home on Saturday, October 11 against the Port Dover Sailors.
