HALDIMAND—Following a new Provincial bill requiring all firefighters receive specific certification, Haldimand County is on the hook for $176,878 in training expenses to get a number of their firefighters certified prior to the 2026 deadline. Currently, 51 of the 227 firefighters who work for the County are uncertified and will need to participate in training to receive their certification.
