JARVIS—The Jarvis Lions Club has had a busy year in the Jarvis Lions Ball Park with lots of ball games, people on the walking trail, using the community centre, the disc golf course, tennis courts, lawn bowling building, and the pavilion.

We are grateful to Haldimand County for allowing and assisting us in providing such a great facility and amenities; however, we also receive a tremendous amount of support from many local businesses. We would like to thank and acknowledge the following for their assistance over the past year:
- Doughty & Williamson and Lion Dave Doughty for being available with any equipment and manpower we need for projects.
- Lions Doug (retired) and Cory and Carrie McBride from W.J. Elliott’s for providing electrical assistance, supplies, know-how, and equipment as needed. Many of the services they provide are usually done at no cost, and the amount of time they contribute is considerable.
- Jarvis Minor Baseball for monetary donations of $5,000 for the cement bleacher pads on the top diamond and an additional donation of $1,950, which were the proceeds from their ORSA U11 ball tournament.
- Nigh’s Concrete (Howie and Lisa Nigh) are also huge supporters and this year donated $5,000 to the cement bleacher projects. Anything they are involved with in the park is always done at minimal (and often no cost) to our community.
- Rob and Noah Ouwendyk and Bryan Dosser look after the grass and maintenance (cutting, weed eating, etc.) in the park and are always going above and beyond to provide extras when needed at no additional cost for their services. When events are scheduled, they are always there prior to making sure that the grounds look great for those attending.
- Eric Montague and his staff from Montague Construction did the excavating for the cement pads, the work at the pavilion, work on the two top diamonds, and supervised the recent restorations to the walking trail. Their work is always exemplary, and they provide their services at costs below our budget to make these improvements possible.
- We received engineered drawings from Matt Whyte at no cost for both the cement bleacher pads and the work done on the pavilion. Matt also became a coach in Jarvis Minor Ball this past summer.
- Blue Grass Sod (Dave and Caroline Steinmetz) donated the sod laid around the cement bleacher pads, and also provided the sod around the pavilion at a reduced cost.
