On my way out the door to go grocery shopping on Sunday I was surprised to see a bouquet of flowers on my front porch.
A little note with the flowers read: “Dear friend, here’s a little something to brighten your day. Let’s spread happiness not viruses! Stay safe and be kind to each other. Have a happy and healthy day!”
The back of the note read: “Special thanks to NorthFire Industries for making this delivery possible. Please support local businesses that have also been affected. #buyflowersnottoiletpaper.”
I don’t know who is responsible for this, but thank you for these flowers! It was a pick-me-up and it did indeed brighten my day!
I later saw a post in the What’s Up Caledonia group on Facebook from another Caledonia resident who received these flowers as well.
Their post read: “A lovely surprise today, flowers on my doorstep with a kind note. I live with early Alzheimer’s disease. I have been home for two years. Now having my kids and partner home full-time is challenging because I get confused or I don’t have the skills to manage teenage fights, or frankly I drive everyone crazy, LOL, who doesn’t like their tea bags in the toaster? Anyway, a warm thank-you for the flowers, a really kind gesture for all of us.”
NorthFire Industries, owned by Julia Daly, has offered to “go out and get whatever you need” for Caledonia residents. The company says you can email them at northfire.industries@gmail.com. “Tell me what you need and level of urgency and I will try to accommodate (the urgency),” said its Facebook post.
In a time of uncertainty, it is so nice to see the community come together offering to help one another and “brighten” each other’s days. It makes getting through these unprecedented times that much better. Let’s push forward and get through this together!
