FISHERVILLE—The 1st Selkirk troop of the Baden Powell Service Association (BPSA) has received a generous contribution from the Fisherville Lions in the form of 10,000 empty beer cans. That means $1,000 for the youth organization when the cans have been returned. The cans were collected at the Fisherville Hotel & Tavern and at a location on Kohler Side Road. Over the course of a month, Floyd and Carol Moerschfelder removed the tab and crushed every can. Lion Walt Schaeffer explains, “Because of the community we live in that is so good to us, we decided to give the cans to the BPSA.” The 20 bags of cans (500 cans per bag) were presented to appreciative members of the BPSA at the Fisherville Lions Park on September 14, 2023. The 1st Selkirk BPSA troop includes Otter Raft (ages 5-7), Timber Wolf Pack (ages 8-10), Explorers (ages 11-14), and Senior Explorers (ages 15-17). The next registration night is September 27 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Faith Centennial United Church in Selkirk.
