CALEDONIA—The picturesque landscape of the Caledonia Fairgrounds has been enhanced by the recent addition of five trees planted by the Haldimand Horticultural Society (HSS). This endeavour was made possible with a grant HHS received from the Grand River Conservation Foundation and a partnership with the Caledonia Agricultural Society.
According to HHS, the grant was given to plant a group of trees to provide beautification of the Grand River waterfront, provide educational information, increase wildlife habitat, improve air quality, and aid in the conservation and soil erosion along the river.
Elsie Eubank of HHS further explains, “The primary goal of the project is a memorial walkway in recognition of (HHS members and) citizens who have contributed to the beautification of Haldimand, creating habitats for birds and wildlife, enhancing green spaces, and providing shade for visitors.
