CALEDONIA—Local members of the media have come together to help raise funds for Movember.
The morning man from 92.9 The Grand, Trevor Stoyko, put out a call for Movember fundraising during one of his broadcasts. He asked his listeners to contact him for more information, and Haldimand Press freelancer Kerry J Newstead answered that call.

Newstead made his donation and the next morning on air, Stoyko shared that his personal campaign was nearing the $300 mark, courtesy of Newstead’s donation. Because of this generous donation, Stoyko told his listeners that he had a special gift/request for the donor – he wanted Newstead to come to the radio station to shave off his eyebrows.
At 9:30 a.m. on November 12, 2024 Newstead didn’t show – but a clown, Hunky Dorey, arrived explaining that Newstead was not available and the clown was asked to stand in for him.
After being interviewed, Hunky Dorey told Stoyko that he came out of retirement just to shave the brows off the announcer.
Stoyko said afterward, “With all clowning aside, men’s health is very important. Movember supports men’s mental health and testicular and prostate cancer. I have had several of my radio friends who have taken their own life, because they could no longer handle the stresses in life.”
Stoyko himself admits that he struggles from a bi-polar condition and losing friends due to mental health scares him.
As of November 16, Stoyko shared on his Instagram @trev_uncle_gus_stoyko, “We have raised over $1,100! We still have half of Movember! Thanks to the many donors who have helped us with raising awareness.”
