DUNNVILLE—Two years after the body of a young girl was found in the Grand River in Dunnville, investigators still don’t know who she is, but they’re hopeful that a new 3D facial approximation and a $50,000 reward for information leading to the girl’s identity will change that.

On May 17, 2022, two people fishing came upon the body of a small child in a marshy area off of Grand Island, directly south of the Dunnville Boat Club, downstream of the dam.

Over the course of the investigation, it was determined that the girl was somewhere between 10.5 months and three years old, and according to investigative genetic genealogy (commonly known as IGG), the girl was half Chinese or Chinese southern border neighbours, and half North African.

The same day the OPP released the 3D facial approximation, a video going over some of the details of the case and the investigation, titled The Grand River Baby: Unsolved, was also released.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the tip line at 1-844-677-9403, or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
