Fail to remain collision results in criminal charge

CALEDONIA—On August 16, 2022 at 9:30 p.m., members of Haldimand OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on Braemar Avenue in Caledonia. One of the vehicles was parked and unoccupied at the time of the collision. The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to an out-of-town hospital for assessment.

While speaking with the driver, signs of alcohol consumption were detected. 

While at the hospital, the driver was tested and as a result, a 74-year-old of Caledonia is charged with Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charge.
