DUNNVILLE—On April 9, 2022 at 9:09 p.m., Haldimand OPP responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles. The vehicle that caused the collision had left the scene.
Following the collision, police received a traffic complaint that involved a vehicle with heavy front end damage matching the descriptors of the fail-to-remain vehicle. It was travelling on George Street in Dunnville. A traffic stop was conducted and while speaking with the driver, signs of alcohol consumption were detected. The driver was transported to the closest OPP detachment for additional testing.
As a result, a 21-year-old of Dunnville, is charged with:
- Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
- Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Fail to remain
- Novice driver Blood Alcohol Content (B.A.C.) above zero
- Fail to report accident
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
