Impaired drivers across Haldimand

HALDIMAND—On October 3, 2022 at 6:25 p.m., Haldimand OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Highway 6 and Haldimand Road 66. There were no injuries reported. 

On September 30 at 6:12 p.m., Haldimand OPP, Fire Services, and EMS responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Haldimand Road 53 near Selkirk. The individual involved did not sustain any injuries. 

Signs of alcohol consumption were detected in a driver at each collision. They were transported to the closest OPP detachment for additional testing. As a result, the first collision saw the 40-year-old of Caledonia is charged and the second a 54-year-old of Hagersville is charged, both with: Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood and Driving a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol. For both, the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. The accused are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charge.

A 59-year-old of Windsor is facing the same charges and sanctions after police detected alcohol consumption in the driver following a traffic stop on Hwy. 3 near Selkirk.
