DUNNVILLE—Haldimand OPP is reminding the public to keep properties secure following several theft reports from residences in Dunnville.
On Monday, June 29, 2020 at 7:35 a.m., OPP responded to George Street in Dunnville for a report of a theft from a vehicle.
Between Saturday, June 27 and Monday, June 29, unknown(s) entered an unlocked vehicle on the property and removed several keys that were inside the vehicle.
On Monday, June 29 at 9:51 a.m., OPP responded to an address on Alder Street West in Dunnville after a resident noticed several power tools were missing from a shed on their property.
OPP investigation determined that sometime between Sunday, June 28 at 11 p.m. and Monday, June 29 at 9:30 a.m., unknown(s) entered a storage shed on the property and removed the following power tools before fleeing the area: red Skil mitre saw, black and yellow Dewalt mitre saw, black and yellow Dewalt jigsaw, red Skil jigsaw, black battery booster pack, and a blue Coleman air pump.
On Monday, June 29 at 12:24 p.m., OPP responded to Broad Street West in Dunnville for a report of a break and enter.
OPP investigation determined that sometime between Saturday, June 27 at 7 a.m. and Sunday, June 28 at 2:30 a.m., unknown(s) attended the area and entered an unlocked sunroom on the property before removing a 42” JVC television, a Sony Bluetooth speaker, and a skateboard.
OPP is reminding all residents to secure their property and suggests the following tips to reduce the risk of being a victim of property crime:
- Always keep vehicles and doors to residences and storage sheds locked.
- Remove valuables from your vehicle. If you can’t, then keep them from plain view.
- Consider alarm systems and motion sensor lighting.
- Trees, shrubs, and fences create hiding spots for criminals. Keep your landscaping groomed.
