January 12, 1936 – May 6, 2025 Gladys passed away peacefully in her 90th year at Anson Place Care Centre in Hagersville. Beloved wife of Lorne Mallick (deceased). Loving mother of Mark (deceased), Patti (Stan), and Jeff (deceased). Step-Mother of Sheri (Roger) and Rick (Patti). Incredible Grandmother to Ashley (Conner) and Kyle (Abby). Step-Grandmother to Rikki, Taylor, Maggie (Nate), Georgia, Libbysue and Great-Gandchildren Ilse and Max. Predeceased by parents Ed and Madeline Stark and brother Bob Stark. Gladys worked in the Insurance industry for many years gaining much respect and friends in Caledonia. Her smile was infectious, Gladys will be greatly missed. HODGES, Jack

We are heart-broken to announce the passing of Jack Hodges on May 14, 2025 at the age of 83. Jack is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Janet (Short) of 42 years. He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Cathy and Carolin. Jack has been a caring step-dad to David (Kate), Amy (Greg) and Johnny (Sharon), loved Grandpa to Ashley, Stephanie, Courtney (Jeremy), Tyler, Keely, Ashley (Tim), Kennedy (Chase), Emma (Luke), Becky (Brad), Michael (Sydney), Hannah and Isaac, and Great-Grandpa to Sophie, Lily, Lane, Brooks, Josie, Eva, Johnny, Maci, Millie and baby Claire who is waiting for him. Jack will be sadly missed by his brothers, Bob (Gail) and David and cousin Gail, and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, good friends and neighbours. Jack’s memory will live on through the many lives he touched throughout the years, whether it was sharpening skates for skaters around the province and beyond, volunteering at the Preston Figure Skating Club or in his leadership with the Western Ontario Section of Skate Canada. Jack taught shop and geography at the high school level for 12 years, then went back to the trade he loved working as a tool and die maker. Following his retirement, Jack indulged in his love of golf at his favourite course, Springview Farm Golf Course, with Janet and their many friends. Thank you to all the nurses, staff and the doctor at Stedman Community Hospice for the special care given to Jack and the family. It is with profound shock and sadness that the family of Jocelyn Jacobs announces her sudden passing on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 56 years young. Predeceased by her parents John and Muriel Murney. She will be extremely missed by her devastated husband Bill Jacobs and daughter Dakota, who was the light of her life. Dear sister to Linda Sorenson, Corrine Forbes, Karlene Murney and brother Kelly John Murney. She will be remembered by her mother-in-law Frances Emslie, sisters-in-law Debi Jacobs (Dan), Dawn Jacobs (Randy), and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother-in-law Les Sorenson, sister in-law Marlene Murney as well as her father-in-law William Jacobs, Tom Emslie, and brother-in-law Wayne Jacobs. Jocelyn was a true lover of life. She was a shining light and a blast at any gathering she went to. She was loved by all who met her for her kindness, razor-sharp wit, and beautiful, genuine smile. She was selfless, patient, and a voice of reason even at the toughest of times. Anyone who has had the privilege of spending time with Jocelyn knows that there is no one else like her. Jocelyn was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and grew up in the small town of Semans, Saskatchewan. She excelled at curling, winning the Provincial Highschool Championship as skip of her team. She was an employee of Regina Social Services until a chance meeting of Bill brought her to Ontario, where she thrived as a cherished employee at the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton. She will be immensely missed by her fellow coworkers who were like family to her. A Celebration of Jocelyn’s Life will take place at a later date where family and friends are welcomed. Peacefully while surrounded by his family, the Lord called unto Himself His beloved child Neil from Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford in his 57th year. At his side were his loving wife Ally and his children Cory (Shelley), Melissa (Ian) Warren and Natalie (Trent Simpson). He was especially proud of his grandchildren Corbin, Matthew and Lucas. Neil is survived by his mother Tine and his siblings Glenda (Peter) Brouwer, Shirley (Henry) Nieman and Peter (Cindy) Janssens. Son-in-law of Jacob and Margaret Schep and brother-in-law of Walter (Joanne) Schep, Martin (Charmaine) Schep, Miranda (Tim) Osterman and Judy (Phil) Kooistra. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Cornelis (2021). Neil was the immediate past president of the Jarvis Lions Club and was extremely proud to be associated with the Jarvis Lions. He loved road trips, camping and he always had a story to share. It is with sadness that the family of Robert Otterman announces his passing on April 30, 2025, at the age of 84. Son of the late Bruce and late Edith (nee Smelser) Otterman of Selkirk, ON. Beloved husband of the late Valerie Otterman (nee Smith). “Grandad” will be greatly missed by his two grandsons, Syd and Mason, of whom he was incredibly proud, as well as his son, Andrew, and his daughter-in-law, Michele (nee Sauve). Robert will be lovingly remembered by his brother David and sister-in-law Barbara of Australia, his nephew Geoffrey (Kelly), niece Cathleen (Glenn Pozzi), great nephews Bailey and Blake, and great niece, Kayla. Robert is predeceased by Valerie’s brother David and sister-in-law Jan, but will be fondly remembered by her brothers Robyn (Carlyne), Peter (Debbie), Derek (Ingrid), and their children. Richard Ryckman passed away peacefully at Secord Trails Care Community in Ingersoll, on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the age of 68. Father of Andrea Tomlinson (Michael), Erin Ryckman, and Jason Ryckman (Jessica Steffler). Cherished Papa of the late Mackenzie (2013), Emily and Austin; Conner, Walker, and Kennedy; Emmett, Kade, and Declan. Dear brother of Elvin (Pat), Stephen (the late Terri) and Paul (Patsy). Predeceased by his parents Elvin Sr. (1998) and Dorothy Ryckman (2018), and his sister Judy (2018). Rick will be missed by his nieces, nephews and extended family. Itchy will also be deeply missed by his best friend since grade school, Wimpy. Rick was born in Hamilton and grew up in Caledonia. He loved spending his time outside, whether at the lake, camping or fishing. He was an avid gardener and took great pride in his gardens. Rick also found joy in cooking for others, making everyone his famous “Christmas Westerns”. Cremation has taken place and Rick’s ashes will be scattered in one of his favourite places. November 25, 1966 – May 5, 2025 With extremely heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alison Isabelle Margaret (Inglis) Burley on Monday morning. After a short battle in the ICU, Alison passed comfortably in her sleep as her loving husband Ken held her. Alison was loved and adored by Ken for 35 years. Proud mother to Kenny (Wendy) and Jackson (Hannah), excited to be Grammy to Paisley and Isla. Predeceased by her parents Bill and Isabella, two of her three brothers Neil and Bill, and father-in-law Ken. Survived by her mother-in-law Laurie, cousin Michelle Abbott (Andrew), brother-in-law Duane (Linda) Burley, Deina (Steve) Dales, and Angela Burley. Nieces and nephews Dana (Kevin), Bailey (Nils), Kirsten (Brad), Chris (Holly), Leina and Noah. Alison’s love for family was paramount, she was ecstatic to be Grammy. Alison loved to travel, camp, and play games with family and friends. Her love of music and dancing (Nickelback, Tragically Hip…) was infectious. Alison’s Celebration of Life will be at the Royal Canadian Legion, Caledonia Br 154, (29 Caithness St E) on Saturday, May 10thstarting at 4:30pm. Passed peacefully at Grace Villa on Friday May 2, 2025, one day shy of her 96th birthday after a very fun-filled and exciting life. Beloved wife of the late Gordon (2011) of 39 years. Beloved mother of Lynda, Hugh Jr. (Marie) and Martin (Sandra). Predeceased by sons Donald (1951), Timmy (1988) and Bobby (1989). Grandmother of Michael and Tim. Great-grandmother of Kaylah Grace. Survived by her sister Isabel. Sister of the late Norman (2006) and the late Joe (1997). She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Betty was a retiree of Proctor & Gamble. The heart remembers most what it has loved best. With smiles and tears, we will miss you, Mom.
