Devoted and loving wife of the late Arnold Nigh (2022). Cherished mother and grandmother of Larry of Hamilton, Ruth Anne Engle (Phil) of Dillsburg, PA, their children Meredith, Allie and Connor; and Karen Smith (Jason) of Simcoe, their children Abbey and Blake. Dear sister of Alvin Hall (Barb) of Townsend, Howard Hall (Margaret) of Ireland, Marjorie Danton (Dave) of Hanover and by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Loving sister-in-law of Norma Sherk (late Maurice) of Townsend. Predeceased by her grandson Brendan Engle (2001), by her parents John and Marion (nee Heise) Hall and by brother-in-laws, the late David Nigh (Lynn) of Waterloo, the late Walter Nigh (Dianne) of Alberta, the late Howard Nigh (Elinor) of Jarvis, the late Wray Nigh (late Jean); the late Melvin Nigh (Bettee) of Townsend, her husband Al and the late Robert Nigh (Debbie) of Windham Centre. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 58 yrs Jim Peart of Simcoe. She was a loving mother to Ron and Cathy, Sandy and Roger. She will be missed by her grandchildren Travis, Dalton and Brenna, Rachel and Levi. Joan was daughter of the late Thomas and Alberta Stevenson of Hamilton and sister to Bernice and late Thomas Simpson, Jim and Deanna Stevenson. Sister-in-law to the late Donalda and Leonard Reu , Betty and late Elson Reu. Joan was active on the family dairy farm in Oneida for many years, enjoyedgardening, baking, sewing, reading, quilting and travel. Suddenly on Saturday, January 6, 2024, in his 45th year. Loving son of Margaret Lepka and the late Jim Armstrong. Dear brother to Mike Armstrong and Bill (Brittany) Lepka. Survived by his daughter Alicia Sheldrick as well as his nieces and nephews Ashlyn, James, Aubrey, Chloe, and Hailey. He will be dearly missed by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Mark grew up in Haldimand County. He was the founder of a successful construction business, which he took great pride in. Mark lived his life to the fullest by taking every vacation and seeking out every adventure he could. He encouraged everyone to “take the trip”. He was always the first one to offer help to anyone who needed it and will always be remembered for his generous nature, contagious laugh, and his pure heart of gold. To say he will be deeply missed by all who knew him would be an understatement. Service is Saturday, January 27 at Cayuga United Church at 2:30 p.m.

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Douglas Lorne Dreier on January 8, 2024 in his 83rd year. Surrounded by his family at Norfolk General Hospital. Cherished husband to Brenda (nee Best), loving father to Jennifer Kivell (Andrew Nicholson), Mishelle Dreier (Anne McIntosh), Kristy Dreier (Nick Langdon), Grandfather to Kaiya and Kwyn Kivell, Cameron Rogerson, Leo and Dax Langdon. Presdeceased by parents Lorne and Annie Dreier, Howard and Jean Best and his son Paul Dreier. Doug was raised in Kitchener, Ontario. He had 24 years working with Ontario Hydro where he took an early retirement and another 30 years driving school bus with Laidlaw and sharps bus lines. Doug and the family also fondly recall the days where he played Santa Clause at Santa’s Castle Downtown Simcoe. He enjoyed travelling and the 15 winters they had in Florida. Doug will always be remembered for his sense of humour and his ability to light up a room with laughter. He had the most incredible ability to make everyone in his presence smile. He was kind, funny and the easiest person to get along with. Respected by his community, loved by his friends and family, he will be sorely missed. The celebration of life for Douglas Lorne Dreier will be January 27, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion. Branch 79, 200 West St. Simcoe. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allison on Monday, January 8, 2024, just shy of his 93rd birthday. A loving and devoted dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, Al has been reunited with the love of his life, his wife Frances. Cherished and supportive Dad of Doug and Cindy Murphy, Janet and Brad Randall, Paul Murphy and Steve Hawes. Loving and devoted Grandpa to Blair and Emma Randall, Beth Randall, and Brendan Murphy and P.J. Dominick. Adoring Great-Grandpa to Charlotte and Hunter Randall and Jonah Dominick. Survived by his sisters Betty Hines (Ken deceased), Myrtle and Eric Willis, and Ross and Karen Murphy. Predeceased by sister-in-law Kay (Murray) Coverdale. Will be missed by several nieces and nephews. For 35 years, Al was a dedicated Union Gas employee. He was a faithful long-time member of Grace United Church who served on many committees in several roles. Al was a lifetime member of the Caledonia Men’s Club. In 2007, he earned the Caledonia Citizen of the Year award for his leadership and commitment to serving his community. In his retirement, Al volunteered with Caledonia Senior Support for many years and joined Glanford Curling Club. He also spent time developing his skills as a woodworker, making countless wonderful creations for family and friends. One of Al’s favourite places was visiting his cottage on Whitestone Lake. Always a devoted family man, Al found his greatest joy in being with those he loved. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Al was passionate about the Masonic Order and was a driving force for all Masons in the Caledonia Region. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Lodge and was also a member of the Scottish Rite. He earned the prestigious honourary 33° in 2005. Visitation will be held at MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 28 Caithness Street East, Caledonia on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 2-4 and 6:30 – 8 pm. A Masonic Service under the auspices of St. Andrew’s Lodge A.F.& A.M. will be held at the funeral home at 6 pm. The funeral service will be held at Grace United Church, 174 Caithness Street East, Caledonia on Saturday, January 13 at 11 am. Lois is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Gary), grandchildren, Michelle, Cheryl (Dale), Stacey (Ryan), Mark and great-grandchildren, Kyle (Lynsee), Jamie, Nicole, Kieran, Connor, Olivia and Sophia. Also, survived by her sister, Lorna Melko and sister-in-law, Beverly Bodnar. The family would like to extend many thanks to Dr. Paul Medve, Nurses, PSW’s and all the staff of Parkview Meadows Christian Retirement Village.
