It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary (Betty) Elizabeth Scholfield, who peacefully left us at the age of 100. Born on June 28, 1924, Betty’s life was a tapestry of love, compassion, and enduring devotion to her family. She leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished forever.Betty was predeceased by her devoted husband, Frank Scholfield, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage before his passing in 2001. She was a loving and dedicated mother to her two children: John (predeceased in 2009) and Mary Elizabeth Hamilton (Dave). She was the loving grandmother of Ryan (Kelsi) and Jeff, and proud great-grandmother to twins Hayden and Hunter. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Grace (1984) and Otto (1940), as well as her siblings: Gordon (1964), Kenneth (1980), Maurice (1985), Marjorie (1998), and Dorothy (2013). Betty worked for 20 years as an Administrative Assistant at Wabasso Textiles, where she was known for her dedication and professionalism. A gifted pianist, Betty’s musical talents brought joy to many. She was a proud and active member of the Dunnville Presbyterian Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and choir member. She was also an active and dedicated member of the Dunnville Sweet Adelines for many years. Her time with the Sweet Adelines, which included many joyful years of travel and singing, held a special place in her heart. In addition to her professional and musical accomplishments, Betty shared a deep bond with her late husband, with whom she worked tirelessly to coordinate the annual No. 6 S.F.T.S. Air Force Reunions in Dunnville for 55 years. These reunions were an important part of her life. During these years, she and Frank traveled to the UK five times, creating lasting memories of their love for Great Britain. In her 80s, Betty’s adventurous spirit led her to explore Australia on two separate trips, proving that her curiosity for travel never waned. Later in life, Betty found joy in quieter pursuits: playing solitaire, reading, watching Jeopardy!, and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Her curiosity never ceased—always eager to stay informed, she often read newspapers from around the world on her computer, with a special interest in geography. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed. Her kind spirit, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered and cherished forever. Bill passed away peacefully at home, at the age of 92 on June 5, 2025.  Survived by his wife Christine, his children Bev (Jon) Ballanger, Allan (Crystal) Pogson, Brian (Patti) Pogson and Susan (David) Enderwick,  his seven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. Predeceased by his parents Cecil and Rena Pogson and his sister Marjorie McDougall. Bill enjoyed operating a plumbing business in the Dunnville area for over 60 years. Family received  friends at South Cayuga Community Church (SCCC), 6182 Rainham Rd, Dunnville, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Monday June 9, 2025.  Funeral service was held at the church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday June 10, 2025. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lenore Marie Fraser (née Newstead), who left us peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, in Hamilton, Ontario. Born on November 3, 1964, in Guelph, Ontario, Lenore was 60 years old.Lenore dedicated many years to the hospitality and retail industries. Early in her career, she gained experience at McDonald’s and Bootlegger in Guelph, and later at Hewitts Dairy Bar in Hagersville. Since 1997, she worked as a dedicated manager for Kelseys Restaurants, serving both the Hamilton and Burlington locations. Beyond her professional life, Lenore was an avid reader, always eager to delve into a new story. She also found great enjoyment in curling, learning the sport and cherishing the many friends she made at the Haldimand Curling Club. Demonstrating her commitment to her community, Lenore also volunteered her time with the Hagersville Figure Skating Club, proudly serving as its club president. In her later years, while bravely navigating the challenges of Alzheimer’s, she found joy in listening and dancing to the music of Elvis. She was a proud Canadian and always embraced the opportunity to sing our national anthem. These passions brought comfort and light to her journey, and she was blessed to have many of her close friends visit her bedside, offering comfort and support. Lenore is survived by her partner Kevin Proctor and his extended family; her mother, Marie Newstead; her daughter, Lacie Hampson (Ryan Hampson); her grandchildren, Ruby and Pearl; her step-children, Sarah and Matthew; her sister, Lynne (Doug); and her step grand kids Hayden, Ava, Emma and Catherine. She was predeceased by her father, Jim Newstead. Passed away peacefully at Hamilton General Hospital on Saturday May 31, 2025, in her 61st year. Beloved daughter of the late Jack (1997) and Betty (2021).  Beloved sister to Laura Mae and husband Allen Webb and special sister to Lisa, Roy (Michelle) and special aunt to Ashley (Sean), Amber (Nathan), Joshua and Benjamin (Bobbie). Special great aunt to Lily. Predeceased by sister Barbara (2007) and brother Peter (1959). Diane worked for Dr. Woolfry and Dr. Niroopan. Passed away peacefully on Sunday May 25, 2025, while surrounded by his family at Norfolk General Hospital, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Paul was a jovial, hard-working man who had the ability to enlighten everyone with his sense of humor. A dedicated truck driver (The Nanticoke Slowpoke) who put in countless miles across Ontario and beyond. Paul had a way of welcoming everyone into his life with open arms and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Paul, who was promoted to glory in his 72nd year, was a loving father to Ryan of Townsend and Jeremy (Jodi) of Port Dover. Papa Paul to his grandchildren Austyn, Brady, Sophie, Effie, Marley, Solon and Josie. Loving brother of Deb French, Ruth (Jonathan Chevreau), Mark (Beth) and Jennifer Chittim. December 24, 1936 – April 18, 2025 It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Peter passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025 at Ed’s House Hospice in Cobourg, in his 89th year, surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Carol Reilly (married 65 years, together for 72 years). Proud and loving father of Jim (Judy), Elayne (Scott), and Tom (Teresa). Adored Grandpa/Poppy of Lindsay (Chris), Kristen (Brett), Nicole (Myles), and Brett (Delaney). Great-grandpa of Reilly, Charlee, Olive and Jane. Dear brother of Jerry King, and brother-in-law of Donna and Alan Novosel. Predeceased by his parents Sandy and Reginald Reilly of Welland. Peter adored his wife Carol, his highschool sweetheart, and they loved travelling the world together over the years. He was a devoted family man and planned many enjoyable camping trips, ski trips, and family vacations down south. “Poppy Peter” had a close bond with his grandchildren and was exceptionally proud of their accomplishments and positive qualities. Peter attended McMaster University, played on the McMaster Marauders football team, and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education. He taught at Ancaster High & Vocational School for the first 3 years of his career and then attained a Physical Education Headship at Cayuga Secondary School where he taught until he retired. Peter was very passionate about his career and was well respected by his colleagues. He coached many sports teams and positively impacted a great number of students. Peter will be forever loved and missed dearly by his family and friends. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing that this wonderful man had a life well-lived filled with love and cherished memories. He was a classy gentleman right to the end and lovingly told his family ‘It’s been a great ride’. Peter’s many virtues such as kindness, integrity, patience and courage will live on through his family. Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held, as per Peter’s wishes.
