With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Gail at Norfolk General Hospital on Monday November 18, 2024, at the age of 84. Beloved wife for 63 years to Bill. Loving mother of Bill (and Melanie), Randy (and Jill). Dearly loved Nan of Melana (and Dave), Billy, Brandon, and cherished great-grandson, Oliver. Gail will also be sadly missed by sisters Betty Lou Baird, Bonnie Wardell, sisters-in-law Kate Vokes and Laura Hobbs, nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by daughters-in-law Brenda and Sherry Hobbs, brothers David and Larry Vokes, brothers-in-law Pete Baird, Jack Wardell and Paul Hobbs. Gail’s family would like to thank David Lefler, Renee Vervaet, and all the staff at Heritage Lodge, Simcoe for their care and compassion. Following Gail’s wishes a private service was held. Passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Reunited with his wife Pat (1989). Lovingly remembered by his children Chris (Danis), Paul (Kelly), and Mary; his grandkids, Shawn (Mary), Aaron, Nathan (Nero), Cory, Kenna, Vanessa (late Kyle), Alex, and Jordyn; his great grandkids, Jude, Fearn, Amelia, Jamie, and Kailyn. Bert was well known in the community from serving 30 plus years on the OPP and coaching baseball. He loved fishing, hunting, just being outdoors, watching curling and hockey on tv. He will be missed. In lieu of flowers, donations to Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue or Welland SPCA would be appreciated as Bert loved horses and dogs. The family will receive friends at the Hyde & Mott Chapel of R.H.B. It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Neil Doyle in his 76th year. Dear husband for 53 years of Mary (nee Florio). Proud and loving father of Emily, encouraging and loving Papa of Gwynne. Brother-in-law of Tony and Marnie Florio, Frank and Frances Florio; a cherished uncle of the nieces and nephews of the Doyle and Florio families. Neil will be remembered by his dear friends Rick and Sue Gordon and their family. Neil was predeceased by his parents, Emmett and Ursula Doyle (nee McCarthy), and brothers Mark and Pat. During Neil’s 30-year career with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board, he built lifelong friendships. Neil had a passion for fishing and boating, as well as a love for playing guitar. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Neil’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society is appreciated. A service followed by a luncheon will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 94 Main St. S. Hagersville. September 15, 1942 – November 10, 2024 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Linda in her 83rd year at Heritage Green Nursing Home in Stoney Creek on November 10, 2024. Linda will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Colin, of 28 years. Loving mother to sons, Leonard Townsend and John (Louise) Townsend and grandmother to Alyssah and Lindsay. She will also be missed by step-daughters, Susan Holland-Hibbert (Jarold) and Carol Holland, as well as grandsons Oliver and Johnathan. Linda was predeceased by her husband Jim Anderson, and parents William and Florence Hubbell. Linda was born in Toronto on September 15, 1942, and raised in Cayuga, Ontario. She worked in health care for many years, including the Red Cross, Extend Care, West Haldimand General Hopsital, Haldimand War Memorial Hospital, and privately in many homes. Linda’s family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all the staff who cared for her during her last few months in hospital and at the Heritage Green Nursing Home. Visitation will take place Thursday, November 14, 2024, 6 – 8 p.m. at JW Hart Funeral Home, 113 Lock St. East, Dunnville, ON. 1926 – 2024 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our “Aunt Leen” who passed peacefully at the young age of 98, with family by her side. She has gone to join her parents Peter and Annie Gloyd, her husband Roy Bunn, daughter Geraldine, sister Jean Bacher, brothers Reg and Birge Gloyd and her best companion Kelly. She will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, their families and her puppy “Lacey”. She delivered for meals on wheels, member of Senior Support for many years. She loved her Blue Jays and her red hats. We were very blessed to have her in our lives. It is with sad hearts that wife Marion, and son, Jake Jr. said goodbye to their dearly loved husband and father on November 5, 2024. Jake was in his 92nd year, and had lived in Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre, Waterloo, since May 22, 2018. Jake will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and their families—Carolyn Braun of Brantford, Earle Vokes of Red Deer, Alberta, Rosemary Vokes of Innisfail, Alberta, and J.B. and Jill Vokes of Chilliwack, British Columbia. Jake was predeceased by his mother and father, Ivy and Jacob Fisher of Smithville, and brother-in-law, Alfred Braun of Brantford and sister-in-law Beth Vokes of Red Deer, Alberta. Jake served as a teacher and principal in the Haldimand area for 35 years before retiring in 1988. Many thanks to staff at Columbia Forest for their kindness and care shown to Jake while at Columbia Forest was greatly appreciated. At Jake’s request, there will be no visitation or memorial service. With deepest sadness we announce the passing of Margaret Helen O’Donnell on November 2, 2024. Helen passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family; daughter, Karen Gunn and son-in-law Brian Gunn. Granddaughters, Emily, Sarah, Kailey and Mackenzie. Great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Avery. Helen is predeceased by her husband Kenneth O’Donnell. Helen is also survived by her son, Michael, grandchildren Ken and Sharon and great-granddaughters Sophia and Lexi. A special thanks to Stedman Community Hospice and especially her nurse Clysen whom took such wonderful care of Helen and her family through this difficult time.
