April 9, 1946 – October 31, 2024 Wife of the late Johann “Hans” Trainer. Loving mother of John, Steve, and Bob (Leisa). Dear Grandma to John, Reagan (Quinton), Devyn (Michael), Hannah, Nicole, Ethan, Faith, and Johann. Great Grandma to Danyka, Harper, and Brayden. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Wilbert and Erie Rowntree and siblings Beverly, Alvin, Helen, and Jean. The family will honour her life with visitation at Hyde & Mott Chapel, RHB Anderson Funeral Homes Ltd., 60 Main Street South, Hagersville on Monday, November 4, 2024 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m.. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 94 Main Street South, Hagersville on Tuesday November 5, 2024 at 11 a.m. Interment Gill Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Gill Cemetery Board.

TELESNICKI, Dr. Joseph

March 15, 1934 – October 24, 2024 Dr. Telesnicki passed away suddenly at Edgewater Gardens in Dunnville on October 24, 2024, at the age of 90.Beloved husband of Barbara and loving father of Mark (Patricia), Guy (Laura), and Dana (Jon). Proud grandfather of Teagan (Ryan), Hayleigh (Max) and Kiera Telesnicki, Erik and Andrew Telesnicki-Kranz, Jared and Graydon Bearinger and Jacob Biros. Survived by his sister Jenny Kletke and predeceased by his parents Ludwik and Ludwika and siblings Helen Clarke, John, Walter, Broyna, Cathy, Ted, and Kazmier Telesnicki. Joe spent most of career practicing dentistry in Dunnville.  He was lovingly known to his grandchildren as JoJo and enjoyed spending time watching them play and swim in the pool.  He will always be remembered for his smile, sense of humour and kind heart.  Joe loved gardening and enjoying travelling and seeing the world. Later in life Joe developed a passion for art and enjoyed giving his paintings to his family and friends. Family will receive friends at  BALLARD MINOR FUNERAL HOME, 315 Broad Street East, Dunnville on Friday, November 1 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 2 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 201 Alder Street West, Dunnville. September 23, 1956 – October 27, 2024 Unexpectedly, but peacefully, at home in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 27, 2024, we lost a dearly loved man after a hard fought 10 year battle with cancer.  Cherished husband of 42 years to Maureen Hewitt-Topp, absolutely wonderful father of Jennifer (Alexandre Hendrick), and adored grandfather to Artie, his pride and joy. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Gwen Topp. Jeff is survived by his sisters Judy Andison (Ron), and Jo-Anne Smith, brother-in-law Todd Hewitt, as well as nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Jeff was a volunteer firefighter with Haldimand County with over 40 years of service at both Canfield and Hagersville Stations, and a retired Brewer’s Retail employee. He was also a member of Hiram Lodge, Hagersville, and St. John’s Lodge, Cayuga. In keeping with Jeff’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will not be a funeral service. An informal gathering will be held in the CE Wing of Hagersville United Church, Main St. S., Hagersville on Saturday November 9, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. Light lunch and beverages will be provided. Dress is casual. Come and share a story or two. Those wishing to do so may make memorial donations to Hiram Lodge, St. John’s Lodge, Hagersville Firefighters Association (cheques payable to HFFA, P.O. LITTLE, Gordon William

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gordon Little, at Dunnville War Memorial Hospital, after a battle with leukemia. Much loved father of Sheryl Ferris-Little (Dave) and Grandfather of Brad Robertson, Katie Robertson (Jake) and Jaime Ferris. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nina, and daughter, Sharon (Ann). Predeceased by his father, Herbert Little, step-mother, Verna Little, and brother, John Little (Sheila). Born in Hamilton, Gordon was raised in Caledonia by his father, and grandmother, Rachel (Abbey) Little. He became a police officer, originally with the Waterford Police, the Simcoe Police, and eventually the Haldimand-Norfolk Regional Police, where he retired with the rank of Inspector after a long career. Gord also participated in charitable work over the years. He was a former Chairman of the Board of Haldimand War Memorial Hospital. He worked with Crime Stoppers of Haldimand Norfolk and the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and was a former member of the Dunnville Lions Club and a current member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 142. In recent years, Gord enjoyed spending time with friends at the Legion, going out to lunch with his grandchildren, and watching TV with his cats. The family would like to thank the amazing nurses at Haldimand War Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital for the care he received during his illness. We would also specifically like to thank Dr. Ayoob for his end of life care and his family doctor, Dr. Ezzat. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the Dunnville Hospital and Healthcare Foundation would be appreciated by the family. This was a foundation he firmly believed in. April 2, 1947 – October 22, 2024 Cherished husband of 50 years to Betty (Bassindale) Ortt. Son of the late Gerald and Grace (Wallace) Ortt.  Brother of Irene (deceased) (Bill Skorpid), and the late Marilyn, and James. Brother-in-law of Howard (Bev), Harold (deceased) (Alice), and Carolyn (Frank). Fred will also be sorely missed by his many nieces and nephews who loved their time spent with him and Fred loved them right back. We will love you forever, Fred. Fred was born and raised in Hamilton. He belonged to the Hamilton Sheet Metal Union 537 and made and installed sheet metal at various construction locations in the area including National Steel Car, Stelco, Mohawk College and Imperial Oil and the OPG hydro plant at Nanticoke. Later on he got his natural gas licence and worked for local businesses before having his own business for 10 years. Fred treasured the many friendships made when taking part in various sports throughout his life including hockey, baseball, hunting, fishing, pool, bowling, skeet and trap shooting and golf. He thoroughly enjoyed watching birds and wildlife in their natural surroundings. Fred could often be seen cruising the neighbourhood and countryside trails in his Gator side by side. He took great pleasure in the adventures of searching his Ortt roots back to the USA, meeting new cousins in the process. The family will honour his life with a visitation at Hyde & Mott Chapel of R.H.B. Anderson Funeral Homes Ltd., 60 Main St. S., Hagersville on Friday October 25 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm where the Funeral Service will be held on Saturday October 26, 2024 at 1 pm.  Interment at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery, Cheapside followed by a reception at the Selkirk Christian Chapel. Peacefully entered into rest at Brantford General Hospital on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Susan (2023), in his 75th year. Loving father of Michael (Candice) and Jennifer (Chris). Dear grandfather of Brandon, Adam (Kaitlyn), Michaela and Caitlyn. Brother of Theresa Straza. Michael was a car enthusiast with a love for hot rods and custom cars and he was the proud owner of Kool Wheels in Caledonia from 1976-2024.  He was an eternal optimist and a dreamer, always looking for a way to help people. Cremation has taken place. Passed away peacefully this October 18, 2024 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Aileen (Weatherall) Ells. Loving father of Victoria (Tim) Hall and Sonja (Michael) Robinson. Dear Papa of Jacqueline (Victor) Labadia, Jordon (Cindy) Stone, Samuel Cherry, Ryan Cherry, David Robinson and Nicholas Robinson. Great Grand-Papa  to Mateo, Lilah and Sonny. Brother-in-law of Joan Anderson. Ron lived a full life. He was a lifetime member of the Electrician’s Union. He loved his horses and dogs, Buster and Cody. He had a gift for woodworking, painting, and music and he brought such joy to people with his sense of humour and joking. The family is very grateful to all the nurses and staff of the West Haldimand General Hospital and Gardenview Long Term Care Home in Townsend for their months of care and compassion.
