DUNNVILLE—On Tuesday, September 10, 2019 over 125 participants gathered at True Experience in Dunnville and walked to Central Park to recognize World Suicide Prevention Day. This was the third annual walk in Haldimand, organized by True Experience with help from volunteers. “There was lots of positive energy and support,” said True Experience Executive Director Sandie Heirwegh. At Central Park two people spoke about their mental health, there was music, a candle lighting, a barbecue, and cupcakes. World Suicide Prevention Day has been recognized globally for 17 years. Community resources were available for mental health and addictions support. Prior to September 10, two fundraising barbecues were held in front of Giant Tiger to raise money to cover the expenses so that there were no barriers for anyone wanting to attend. True Experience would like to thank the Rotary Club of Dunnville for sponsoring the t-shirts. Above: Zachary Veldman enjoying the cupcakes.
