CALEDONIA—Light Up Night always brings holiday cheer to the small town of Caledonia. In one case, it has brought so much cheer that Craig Brydges decided to create his very own light display at home. According to Brydges, he had seen the light show at the Old Mill many years ago and was hooked on the idea.
He has been creating a light display for nine years, but this year he upgraded using pixel technology to create a light show. To do this, Brydges programmed possible light sequences on his computer. After he finished programming, he set up the pixel lights on specific places on the exterior of his house. Each light is capable of being individually addressed, meaning Brydges could ask each one to reflect any of the potential colours. The lights are programmed to move along to music, which Brydges broadcasts onto a local FM radio station. Once everything was finished, Brydges set up a timer and schedule on his computer, and the technology does the rest.
