HAGERSVILLE—The Hagersville United Church’s first takeout lunch of 2026 came at the perfect time to warm up residents on a snowy day.
The Friday, January 16 lunch provided a bowl of chili (with meat or vegetarian), a bun, and a cookie for just $10. While pre-orders were requested for the takeout only event, walk-ins were never turned away and the Church Catering Committee expected to serve about 75 meals.
Except for the buns, the food was donated by local companies and all money raised will go back into the church.
This is the third year for these takeout meals, with each being a big hit. The church serves up a chili or soup lunch, all homemade, from January to April and again in October and November. Interested residents should also keep an eye out for details on the church’s High Tea in both May and November.
