HALDIMAND—Classic cars and trucks were a frequent site on Hwy. 3 from September 16 to 17, 2023 as drivers took part in the SouthCoast DreamDrive from St. Thomas to Fort Erie. Blue skies and comfortable temperatures were the ideal conditions for cruising, with many stopping in downtown Jarvis for the “pit stop” at Len’s Automotive and Performance/Heavy Towing and Recovery. According to Len Bigelow, owner of Len’s Automotive, approximately 150 had stopped in before noon on the 16th. Bigelow says they got involved with the DreamDrive “to help out the community. It helps the restaurants and businesses as it brings people into town.” This was proven across the street as Fort Erie residents Scott and Helen Taylor, their daughter Rachel Taylor, and pup Ziggy took a break to enjoy a pizza lunch at Little Johnny’s. Helen says, “(DreamDrive) is a great idea. You see all the little towns and support some businesses.” Scott (left) is pictured next to his 1968 Plymouth Valiant, which he purchased at a scrap yard 40 years ago and fully restored.
