HAGERSVILLE—Tara Shannon is hoping people will support her “children’s story – everyone’s story” – The Book of Rabbit.
“One day I just felt inspired to start drawing and writing, and Rabbit is what happened,” said Shannon. “In a matter of about five days I had 17 texts and illustrations for Rabbit.”
Shannon, who has lived just outside of Hagersville for about eight years, now has about 35 illustrations and texts. In each illustration Rabbit meets another animal or a plant and asks a simple question. While the exchanges might be small, the intent is that they might spark deeper thought and larger conversations.
“My hope is that The Book of Rabbit will bring enjoyment and a little bit of magic to all who read it,” said Shannon. “I hope you grow to love Rabbit as much as I do.”
Rabbit holds a very special place for Shannon, who suffered a miscarriage in 2009. The only gift she received during that pregnancy was a stuffed rabbit.
