HALDIMAND—Following a historic reign that lasted 70 years and 214 days of unwavering service, Queen Elizabeth II passed away in her 96th year.
Born on April 21, 1926, Elizabeth inherited the role of Queen from her father, King George VI, on February 6, 1952 at just 25 years old.
She would preside over some of the most tumultuous periods of modern history and holds the record for the longest reign of a British monarch, being the only member of the Royal family to reach a platinum jubilee this past February with 70 years as Queen.
