CAYUGA—With fall in the air, it is curling time again in Cayuga. The Haldimand Curling Club hosted a Learn to Curl evening at the Cayuga Memorial Arena on September 27, 2024 to introduce newcomers to the basics. A second learning night on October 4 will help participants to improve the skills learned so far.
The Haldimand Curling Club has been around for over 50 years, having started in 1971. The club begins their regular curling season on October 18, with the winter season kicking off in the new year.
Sandie Rower, the registrar for the Learn to Curl event, said, “The club has 110 members, 80 of which are active curlers. The members range in age from teens to super-seniors.”
The September 27 event saw a dozen people seeking how to learn the sport.
Andy MacDonald, club public relations spokesperson, extended a big thank you to the ice keepers at the Cayuga Memorial Arena for ensuring their club has an enjoyable surface to play on.
