19,200 lbs. collected for food bank

CALEDONIA—Gateway Church in Caledonia has completed another successful Young Adults Spring Food Drive, bringing in 19,200 lbs. over the course of the day-long event last weekend – a new record for the event.

“We are very thankful to the residents of Caledonia who gave so generously this year in support of the important work of our local food bank,” said event organizer Mike Bosveld. On how the annual event runs, he added, “The model we use is based on the models used in the Flamborough and Ancaster food drives. We have a Young Adults group at our church (18-25 years old) who meet weekly (as permitted) and do a number of service projects throughout the year. Most young people want to be involved in their community and they want to serve their community, they just need the opportunity.
