HAGERSVILLE—The local racing community has joined with friends and family in mourning 20-year-old race car driver and mainstay at the Ohswken Speedway Noelle Teal following her sudden death in a motorcycle accident in BC on Saturday, October 15, 2022.

Raised in Hagersville, Teal was living in BC and attending the University of British Columbia to study engineering. Her big passion in life was speed. She was known for her prowess behind the wheel of both Crate Sprint and Micro Sprint as a member of the Glenn Styres Racing Team.

Noelle’s father Chris shared the following message on social media following news of the accident: “She loved to ride her motorcycle and racing. We know she wished her car to be at the Pumpkinfest car show. So we dropped it off for her this morning.”

Since her passing, hundreds of people have taken to social media to share their memories and condolences with the family Noelle leaves behind.

“Noelle was always a shining soul, even from a young age. She was a bright light in my Sunday school classes and she will truly be missed. I hope her soul’s next adventures are even more exciting than the ones she had on Earth. Much love to the Teal family. Wish I could be there to celebrate her life,” said Brianna Benton.

“She was a such a light in this world and anyone that had a chance to meet her was lucky to get a glimpse of it. So much love to her family. Noelle you will be missed beyond measure,” added Lisa Turner.

A fundraiser for the family has been set up at givesendgo.com/noelleteal. There, a brief tribute to Teal describes her as “a cherished daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend to so many. Her smile, energy, joy, and enthusiasm were contagious – as was her faith. Noelle has been described as ‘sunshine in a race suit,’ a fitting description for the bright life she led. Noelle left her mark on the racetrack, and on the hearts of everyone who knew her. She will be missed by so many.”

In addition to the online fundraiser, friends of Noelle are organizing a separate fundraiser, creating a batch of stickers with Noelle’s racing number, 14, on them. Selling for $14 a piece, all funds will go directly to her family. To purchase stickers, simply search for Noelle on Facebook and follow the link on her page.

The Haldimand Press extends condolences to all in the community who knew Noelle during this difficult time.
