CAYUGA—Members of the community at the Cayuga Seniors Drop-In Centre, located at 14 McKay St. E., have created three beautiful, poppy-adorned crosses to honour those in our armed forces who fight for the freedom of all Canadians.
Placed in the windowsill of the centre, the crosses contain over 100 poppies, crocheted by a four-person team, including Cindy and Mary Martindale, Betty Claxton, and Judy Duggan. The crosses were built by Fred Coulter.
Centre President Bev Richert complimented the completed project, stating, “They look really nice!”
She said the centre strives to have something fun going on every day, listing carpet bowling, dancercise, bingo, darts, and game days, in addition to three or four bus trips a year as just some of the activities members take part in.
This November, the big project is creating Christmas wreaths, with the group planning to hold their annual holiday dinner at the town’s Kinsman Hall on December 2.
“We’re a busy bunch,” said Richert. “We have a lot of laughs, we have a good time together.”
