Joy Doreen Bean, née Tippett, died with her family at her side and went to be with her Saviour on December 23, 2025, in Chilliwack, B.C. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Bean, in 1999. Joy leaves behind her children, Dawn-Lynn Prediger (Peter), Bill Bean (Sheila), and Cheryl Jonsson (Jon); six grandchildren and their families, which include eight great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. Joy was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on January 17, 1927, to Gordon and Madge Tippett. She graduated from nursing and married Don in June 1948. They travelled by train to southern Ontario, where they spent the rest of their married life. Joy’s life was characterized by her great love of people and a heart to serve others. The door of their home was always open to visitors, both young and old—strangers and longtime friends. She was eager to learn, participate, and encourage others. No situation was an impossibility when finding ways to meet someone’s needs, wherever she was. This inspirational woman loved to find humour in everything, sometimes to her embarrassment! She has left her legacy of unconditional love, laughter, and an example of how Jesus can transform a life. Joy was the world’s best mom and caregiver to her children and countless others. Thank you, Mom, for the laughter, the love, and memories of a life well lived! Joy’s Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Seven Oaks Alliance Church, Abbotsford, BC, from 3 to 5 p.m. Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Waverly Seniors’ Village in Chilliwack for the memories, love, care, and patience they gave to Joy every day over the past year and a half.
