CALEDONIA—On Friday, April 5, 2019 members of the Caledonia Legion held an Appreciation Luncheon to thank several local businesses and the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generous support in assisting the Legion in raising $164,718 to repair their roof and install new HVAC equipment.
Brian Haggith, Chair of the Legion’s Roof/HVAC committee, remarked during the luncheon that the project was only possible because of the assistance of the people and organizations gathered there. The fundraising project, which started in September 2016, was officially completed when the roof was replaced and the HVAC system updated in November 2018. The final cost for the project came in at $148,391, leaving $16,327 for other building maintenance issues that need to be addressed in the near future.
In thanking those present, Haggith stated, “Their support will enable the Legion members to continue working out of this building, supporting local charities and organizations.”
The Caledonia Legion donates approximately $17,500 annually to charities and groups such as West Haldimand General Hospital, Haldimand War Memorial Hospital, Juravinski Hospital & Cancer Centre, Caledonia and District Food Bank, McKinnon Park Secondary School Scholarship Program, No. 779 Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets, and many others.
