CALEDONIA — Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett announced $20 million in funding for a new school in Caledonia as part of the Ontario government’s investment of nearly $500 million to support 37 school projects as part of the 2022-2023 Capital Priorities Program.
As previously reported, Barrett was approached by both the public and Catholic school boards about support for building a new school to support the rapidly growing population of Caledonia. He started a petition, which was signed by residents in Caledonia, to support the initiative. These petitions were then read into the Ontario Legislature.
“This is a monumental time for education in Haldimand-Norfolk,” Barrett said. “Today’s announcement is a tribute to the hard work by the local school boards, the people who signed my petition, and the community in general.”
The new school is a joint use facility shared by Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic School Board and Grand Erie District School Board. Funding allocations are $8,142,113 to the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic School Board and $12,288,985 for Grand Erie District School Board.
