Hydro poles damaged after collision

BALMORAL—On October 15, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Haldimand OPP received a report of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 3 in Balmoral.

As a result of the collision hydro poles were damaged, causing wires to be across the roadway. There were road closures in effect for several hours on Highway 3 between Cheapside Road and Highway 53 and on Highway 53 at East Concession 7 Walpole and at Highway 3.

The lone occupant was taken by ambulance to the hospital as a precaution and has since been released. A 24-year-old resident of Port Colborne has been charged with Careless Driving, Improper Tires, and a roadside Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) was utilized, resulting in an “Alert”. The driver’s licence has been suspended for three days.

The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive.
