December 24, 1954 – July 6, 2025 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Louise Lane (nee Podgurski) in her 71st year after a valiant fight. A devoted mother, partner, sister, and nana, as well as a life long friend to many. She will be dearly missed by husband David and twin sister Martha (Lou), cherished daughters Jennifer (Rick), Michelle (David), and Jenni-Anne and Adam. Her greatest joy and continual source of pride and boasting are her grandchildren Lily and Andrew. Just the mention of them always brought a smile to her face. She will also be missed by a small but mighty band of nieces and nephews. Mary was parish secretary at St. Mary’s Church in Hagersville for 30 years carrying on many functions in parish life. She was a long serving member of the CWL as well as volunteering with many local charities and groups. An avid gardener, and cook, though not all that proficient in the art of potato salad. She loved her jigsaw puzzles and diamond art. Her compassion and caring for others and her love of family will truly be missed. In lieu of flowers donations in Mary’s name can be made to the Hagersville Food Bank or Juravinski Hospital. Mary’s funeral mass will be at St. Mary’s on Friday July 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the hall. Arrangements by Hyde & Mott Chapel, Hagersville. www.rhbanderson.com

WOODLAND, Russ

June 23, 2025

On June 21, 2025, Russ went home to be with the Lord, at the age of 86. He is lovingly missed by his wife of 25 years, Donna. Remembered by sons Chris (Shirley), and Glenn (Anne), and predeceased by daughter Jodi. He was a proud grandpa to Deanna, Michael, Alicia, Lindsay, and Quinn. He was also loved by his special foster brother, Richard. Russ left his birthplace of Newfoundland & Labrador at an early age, but always considered himself a “Newfie”. Later he worked at several companies in senior management displaying his unique leadership abilities, but perhaps the longest term was as Vice President with Northern Telecom in the 80’s. In the late 90’s he became President of ORTECH Corporation in Mississauga. After his retirement he and Donna moved to the quiet town of Port Dover, where he loved to sit on a bench on the pier and watch the boats out on the lake. Russ was always a devout Christian, loved the Lord, loved church, and loved southern gospel music. If anyone started to sing one of the old familiar hymns, he would sing right along with them. We know he is now singing with the angels. Friends are invited to call at MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 28 Caithness Street East, Caledonia, on Tuesday, June 24 from 6-8 pm.  The funeral service for Russ will be held at Highway Pentecostal Church, 4501 Hwy. 6 (north of Hagersville), on Wednesday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, a donation to Highway Pentecostal Church, World Vision Canada or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
