SELKIRK—Santa Claus made an early trip to Selkirk on November 30, 2024 for its annual Christmas celebration and Illuminated Tractor Parade.
After arriving from the North Pole, Santa spent some quiet time with children in the Centennial Hall. Once the first round of boys and girls had spent some time with Santa and told him all the gifts that they would like, they let Santa rest for a bit on his settee. He then had more children come and visit as volunteers helped to serve hot dogs, cookies, and refreshments to all that came.
Down the road at the Selkirk Baptist Church, folks there were giving out hot beverages for anyone who came to brave the chilly evening.
Mrs. Claus was found window shopping while Santa was busy with all the children.
As it got darker, the main street filled with young and old waiting for Santa to go past. Candy was given out and even some ice cream on this cold night.
The floats went by and so did the tractors, all beautifully lit. All the children were patiently waiting for Santa, when there at the end the of the parade a loud “Ho Ho Ho” could be heard.
Speaking with Santa earlier in the hall, he said, “It has been a really great experience and all the kids have told me what they want for Christmas. Some seem really excited and some are a little scared. But it’s all fun and they seemed to enjoy themselves.”
